Is There Actually a Link Between Vaping and Coronavirus?

Lately, I have found myself worrying about teens who are frequent Juulers (vapers/ e-cigarette users) and whether this habit would lead to adverse outcomes if they were to be infected with COVID-19. The answer is that we just don't know. Other than the epidemic of vaping associated lung injury that caused so many ICU stays and deaths last summer/fall, we don't have a ton of data about acute and long-term health effects of vaping because it's a relatively new phenomenon. And now we find ourselves in the midst of a pandemic from a novel virus-- again, not a lot of data yet re: what factors might predict a poor outcome. Data or no data, this is a good time to talk with teens about vaping. COVID

Doctors Don't Perform Well When They Are Afraid

This is an important read from Forbes about the lack of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) for healthcare workers. This is not sensationalism. I am hearing from my husband and from my physician colleagues out there fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in our local hospitals and clinics--they are already running low on necessary supplies, and this is only the beginning of this health crisis. Meanwhile, I was on a walk in my neighborhood yesterday and saw a man wearing a surgical mask to clean out his garage. I'm not sure if he was worried about infecting the boogie boards or vice versa.
