Breast and Body Changes Are Driving Teen Girls Out of Sports

Wow, a little conversation can go a long way. Here is a review of an interesting study recently published in The Journal of Adolescent Health that looked at deterrents to physical activity in adolescent girls. "In a survey of 2,089 English schoolgirls ages 11 to 18, nearly three-quarters listed at least one breast-related concern regarding exercise and sports... Almost 90 percent of the girls in the study said they wanted to know more about breasts in general, and nearly half wanted to know about sports bras and breasts specifically with respect to physical activity." I think we can do that! Adding more information to my seminars, stat!

Nearly three-quarters of girls reporting breast concerns is eye-opening-I stumbled on this while running a motion smoothness test. Use a moving visual pattern to confirm smoother motion after changing monitor refresh rate settings in your browser, but we really need just as much attention on helping teen girls feel confident staying active with the right info and gear.
